If you are anything like me, then you are enjoying this last bit of summer right now. However, Fall is right around the corner and I could not be more excited!
I’m joining a few of my Farmhouse Friends (“Hens”) in the monthly Farmhouse Hens Decorate. Each month we will be sharing our DIY projects with a Farmhouse theme.
You probably are familiar with these fabulous ladies as I’ve been sharing their amazing projects on my Facebook and Instagram for a few months now.
Please meet the team and stop by each of their blogs to see their Fall Vignette:
And here’s mine! As you can see, I kept my Fall Vignette pretty simple.
I started with this old beat up table which I love. I know I should paint it but I just haven’t had the heart. I feel like it has such a story to tell!
Of course I had to add a pumpkin and then a cute milk glass with some fall foliage. I felt like it still needed that Farmhouse touch.
What could I do to add a Farmhouse feel? I thought what better than a chicken wire cloche!
Vase or coffee cup to use as a form
And just my luck I already had a small bail of 12″ x 15′ chicken wire. Now I totally winged it on this project!
First I took a small vase that was about the size (diameter) that I wanted my cloche. I cut off a piece of chicken wire that was just a little larger then what would fit around that; I wanted to leave room for the seams.
Note: you want to make sure to cut in the middle of the hexigon so you have wires sticking out. You will use those to wrap the seams closed.
Then I thought it was too tall so I clipped about 4″ off along the top of the wire. This will allow my cloche to be about 6 inches tall once I fold it down to make the dome.
Next I bent the top down to shape the dome. Once completed, start wrapping the wires to hold it all in place.
Finally, I took a small piece of the cute wire and I made a strip to form a circle for the “handle”. There was no rhyme or reason to this, I just formed a little circle by bending the wire.
Once finished, you can attach this to the top of the dome using one of the existing wires from the top of dome. If you need more wire, just cut some off the scraps.
Take a minute and shape the cloche to make sure it is dome shaped to your liking. And you are done ~ except for deciding what to put under it.
I hope you will give this fun Farmhouse project a try. It was super inexpensive and fast, too. It took me about 15 minutes to make this.
