Hello, Lovelies! Welcome to VMG206 ~ I have a fun little project to share with you today using my E-cutter (Cricut Explore). I was lucky enough to finally get a Cricut Explore Air for Christmas and I can’t be more
In case you don’t know, an E-Cutter is an Electronic Cutting Machine that you connect to your computer (or tablet or phone) and you are able to create and cut out or draw from digital files.
Here’s a link that tells you a little bit more about the Cricut Explore Air (the Air is wireless – over wi-fi connection).
Anyway, I unboxed it and set it up and did the first Sample Project they included. It was a greeting card using the Pen and also Cut functions. Pretty simple.
But now I’m hooked! I want to use this amazing machine but I am just lost on what to do next.
Well, lucky for me I have a friend who told me about a few Cricut Facebook groups that I could join. I did and had a steady stream of inspiration.
And then I discovered You Tube videos of projects. Get Out!
Of course my very first project has to be a Monogram. On something. And Glittery.
Well, it’s barley Spring and I’m wearing a lot of fleece (as in every day) so why not glamming up a fleece?
I hit up Amazon to order some Heat Vinyl and got to work creating my MONOGRAM: VMG in Cricut Design Space. (NOTE: Remember that when you are doing an Iron On, you need to print your image in reverse.)
I decided to use the font Monogram KK (from dafont, a free font service). Pretty, right?!
Then I cut out a small piece of Glitter Vinyl and lined it up on my cutting mat.
Once the Cricut cut it out, I did the weeding. Then I ironed it on. I noticed that the glitter vinyl takes longer to adhere, so be patient. However, this whole project only took about 15 minutes to finish.
Here is a close up ~
Beautiful! That glitter is a little bright ~ but so pretty!
I couldn’t be more happy with my first project using my new Cricut Explore Air. I can’t wait to make some other things. I was thinking pillows for my couch.
Have you ever tried using an E-cutter? I’d love to hear what other ideas and projects you’ve tried.
