Today I’m sharing the start of a big project. I have been given an old gun cabinet. It sat in the garage for over a year. I’ve had lots of time to think about what to do with this thing. It’s now sitting in my very small Chicago apartment Kitchen.
It’s a mess and I’m tired of looking at it. The hutch part came off of the base and it’s jacked on on one end. It has scratches and dents all over it. The door frame only is intact; but the interior part is missing so you can see right in. Oh, and there is a gun hanger in there. For your rifles.
I had dreams of turning this into a small craft closet. But now I’m thinking a small pantry cupboard. With a chalkboard door. And 3-4 shelves instead of a gun rack.
I’ve always wanted to try some Anne Sloan Chalk Paint (r). And now that I’m in Chicago there is a retailer nearby (squeal!). I plan to head over there this weekend and pick some up. I’m not sure what color yet. The apartment is all white with dark trim so I was thinking just white. But I’m open to other colors and I can’t wait to see what the retailer has and I’ll decide then.
I’m excited to start this process. It’s fun sharing the creative process with you.
Here are a some past projects that I’ve actually completed and shared: How to Get 500 Pinterest Followers in 30 Days; Drop Cloth Dish Towels; #Hashtag 101 and DIY Team Scarf.
